Project Overview

As a contractor on the NIGMS web team, I played a pivotal role in the redesign and migration of the NIGMS website, which launched in July 2018. The project involved transitioning content from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2016 and moving static subsite content to the new platform.

Key Contributions 

  • Content Migration: Migrated main site content and remediated formatting errors, HTML inconsistencies, and broken links.

  • Manual Content Recreation: Manually migrated static subsite content, transforming it to fit the new site’s design and functionality.

  • Quality Assurance: Conducted extensive QA testing to ensure content integrity and accessibility compliance.

Impact 

The redesigned site launched successfully, meeting the project timeline. The NIGMS team received a staff appreciation award for the project’s success and on-time delivery.

Website Redesign and Migration - International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP)

Project Overview 

In 2014, I managed the redesign and migration of IASP’s website, introducing a new CMS with updated graphic design, information architecture, and content structure.

  • Content Audit and Taxonomy Development: Conducted a content audit and developed a taxonomy for dynamic content organization, including an online bookstore.

  • User-Centered Design: Led user research, including staff and stakeholder interviews, card sorting, and tree testing, to optimize site navigation.

  • Vendor Collaboration: Partnered with the design team to review and refine wireframes and information architecture for a cohesive user experience.

Impact 

The redesigned IASP website launched as a modern, mobile-responsive platform with improved content accessibility and increased visibility for members.

Website Redesign - Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE)

In 2009, as a core member of the web team, I contributed to CASE’s website redesign, assisting with CMS selection, taxonomy revisions, usability testing, and content migration.

  • Information Architecture and Taxonomy: Assisted in revising the site’s structure and taxonomy to enhance content findability and user navigation.

  • Usability Testing and Migration: Conducted usability tests and facilitated content migration to the Ingeniux CMS.

The CASE website launched with an enhanced, user-friendly structure and a new CMS to support organizational goals.

Website Redesign and Content Migration - Community College Times

Project Overview 

From 2010-2012, as Internet Content Specialist for the American Association of Community Colleges, I managed the content migration for the Community College Times’ move to SharePoint 2010.

  • Content Inventory and Documentation: Conducted a detailed content inventory and created technical documentation for the content migration process.

  • Team Training and Supervision: Trained and supervised temporary workers on content migration procedures and quality checks.

  • Quality Assurance and Beta Testing: Led beta testing for functionality, template integrity, and bug resolution.

Impact 

The migration to SharePoint allowed for streamlined content management, improved site functionality, and a modernized, organized digital presence for Community College Times.
