Website and Email Management - Results for Development (R4D)

Project Summary: From 2019 to 2022, I managed the web and email management operations for Results for Development (R4D), overseeing content management, vendor coordination, and digital performance analytics for its WordPress website and Mailchimp e-newsletter campaigns.

Role Overview 

R4D, a global nonprofit advancing sustainable development, relied on my expertise to manage its primary WordPress website, reaching 16,000 monthly users and generating 40,000 page views. I also led their email marketing efforts, coordinating high-impact communications across multiple digital channels to strengthen audience engagement.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Website Product Management: Oversaw all aspects of R4D’s public-facing website as a digital product, ensuring it remained aligned with organizational goals, accessible, and user-friendly. Partnered with cross-functional teams to implement updates, including program content, landing pages, and staff bios, ensuring a cohesive digital presence.

  • Email Marketing Product Ownership: Managed the full lifecycle of three e-newsletter products—R4D Insights (11,000+ subscribers), Education in Focus (4,000+), and Nutrition in Focus (600+). Produced up to 30 issues annually, including layout, design, editing, and A/B testing, to optimize engagement and user satisfaction.

  • Strategic Planning and Brand Governance: Defined and executed email marketing strategies, including audience segmentation and automated campaigns. Ensured brand consistency across digital channels, aligning messaging and design with R4D’s tone and objectives.

  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Leveraged analytics tools to maintain e-newsletter performance above industry benchmarks (16% open rate, 1.3% CTR). Analyzed user engagement data to recommend and implement improvements in website structure, visual design, and editorial strategy.

  • Vendor Management and Technical Oversight: Acted as product owner for vendor relationships, supervising a web development partner for site maintenance, enhancements, and troubleshooting. Managed an AWS-based vendor for server operations, including security updates and website lifecycle tasks across ten program websites.

  • Cost Management and Process Optimization: Improved vendor selection and contract processes, resulting in a 40% reduction in annual technical support costs. Streamlined internal workflows, optimized budgets, and ensured efficient use of resources.
